Baby Talk and Play

Parents

Baby Talk and Play is a fun, interactive 6 week course for a small group of babies under the age of one and their mums and dads. More than just a music class, this course supports, encourages and inspires an understanding of early language development.  Weaving child development theory with songs, rhymes and stories, Baby Talk and Play helps parents understand the importance of their role in developing their child’s self esteem and communication skills.

"Gracie and I so enjoyed the Baby Talk and Play sessions we attended in the summer of 2009 when she was 6 months old. Fast forward 2 years and she is a really bright spark whose communication skills are often remarked upon as being ahead of her years." Lucy and Gracie

Devised and delivered by highly skilled trainer and qualified teacher Debbie Brace, Baby Talk and Play looks in detail at how babies communicate their wants and needs. Giving  simple strategies and ideas to try out both in class and at home, the course builds parent’s confidence when playing, talking and responding to their baby.  Observing, listening and responding to the babies alongside their parents, Debbie helps to show families how these early practical positive interactions are the foundations for a child to develop into a thinker, a reader, a writer and a skilled communicator.

Language is the key to learning. Research has shown that children's development of language is a crucial first step in their ability to think and learn, and has a significant impact on their overall educational experience.

Baby Talk and Play has been fully endorsed by the Early Years Advisory team in Hounslow as well as specialist Early Years Teachers, Health Visitors and Speech and Language Therapists who have observed the sessions.

“Baby Talk and Play makes you feel like you are doing a better job and it is now more rewarding as a parent...I am much more aware of how my baby is going to learn and grow and how I can influence that in a positive way."
Parent, North Isleworth Children's Centre
